====== Conservatory ====== **Designer:** Jennifer Heaton **Designed:** February 2010 The Conservatory was another of my very early micropolis builds. It was very loosely inspired by the Como Park Conservatory in Saint Paul, Minnesota. [[http://www.comozooconservatory.org/|Como Park Conservatory]]. I still like this build, though at the time we didn't have any trans clear plate, so almost the entire roof has exposed studs. These days I rarely leave exposed studs on buildings; it looks unfinished to me. Every now and then I think about going back and redoing the roof. I was looking for a way to make the roof curved, and finally settled on using trans clear treasure chest lids for the side wings. [[http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4739a|Treasure Chest Lids]] These work pretty well, I think, though they started my habit of using friction (rather than actually attaching studs) to hold some parts together. You do not want to turn this building upside down when it's in transit. When I built the main dome in the middle, we only had three of the four windows I wanted. I found a fourth one that, if you look closely, you can see {{gallery>?conservatory*.jpg&lightbox&4}} {{tag>:modules:module conforming historic fountain sculpture full_block}}
